Three mavericks of the American West struggle for survival as the landscape shifts from open ranches to a patchwork of natural-gas wells.

Nathan, an imprisoned roughneck, tries to break his crystal-meth addiction in order to return to the drilling rigs he loves and the daughter he abandoned.

Steve, an industrial cattle rancher tries to balance increasing gas development and a dwindling herd on the ranch his grandfather homesteaded.

And the vagabond cowboy poet T. Ray Becker must make his living not in the saddle but on the street, singing about a place where men still don Stetsons with pride.
